The Wilson Family — Grateful parents want others to know about DHFLA

The Wilson Family

Kathryn and Jimmy Wilson want to tell their story so that others will benefit from Dallas Hebrew Free Loan Association, as they have. The youngest of the Wilson's four children, Tzidkiah, at 14 months of age was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder, Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic purpura, (IDP) which causes uncontrolled bleeding. During the first 8 months after his diagnosis, Tzidkiah was hospitalized over 10 times, requiring many blood transfusions and other life saving interventions. Because of the enormous medical bills the family was incurring, they had fallen behind in all of their bills including rent, car payments, and utilities. The loan they received from Dallas Hebrew Free Loan Association helped bridge the gap, so they could care for their ill son and keep a roof over the family.

Like so many others in this down economy, the Wilsons also experienced periods of unemployment, some directly related to their son's illness. "We are so grateful that there was help for our family when we needed it most," said Kathryn.

The total expense of college often entails much more than simply tuition...

"Paying for college is never easy. It is difficult to finance the total expense of college, which often entails much more than simply tuition. However, thanks to the Dallas Hebrew Free Loan Association, I was able to complete my B.A. without imposing a debilitating financial strain on myself or my family. The money I received from the Dallas Hebrew Free Loan Association while in college enabled me to focus on my studies rather than on paying for school. As a result, I was able to excel both in and out of the classroom; gaining experiences that have helped me get to where I am today, a Press Officer for the Consulate General of Israel in Houston."

Aaron Friedman

Aaron assumed his position last month. As the Press Officer, Aaron interacts regularly with local media outlets in order to educate and disseminate positive information about Israel. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a B.A. in Psychology. While in college, he was an active member in the University's Hillel, AEPi, and student Israel advocacy group Sooners for Israel. Aaron has visited Israel numerous times over the past few years, participating in Birthright, community service trips, and university studies.

Dallas Hebrew Free Loan was a life saver for me and my family! I was able to purchase the equipment I needed to get back to work. Today I am able to provide a roof over our heads, food, and an education for my children. Baruch Hashem for Dallas Hebrew Free Loan!"
